With effective design SuDS can offer multiple benefits to development sites.

Consideration of drainage at the conceptual stage ensures the development works with the sites topography and natural drainage characteristics. The number of units or unit area per site area or the sites viability is not unduly affected.



The Civils costs associated with below ground ‘SuDS’ are often overlooked. Properly planned SuDS can significantly reduce cost of excavation, procurement and installation of ‘traditional’ below ground drainage solutions.

The use of SuDS can significantly add value to developments. Traditional below ground SuDS that ‘hide’ the water do not provide any amenity or biodiversity benefits.

Other areas that must be considered include maintenance and reliability, performance and health & safety. All of which can be improved through well designed SuDS.
